Abstract

Business Education is an academic program that educates students to be smart consumers, to keep up with the rapidly changing business world, and to have the necessary work skills. Business Education is offered as a part of the career subjects in high school  curriculum. Career subjects were once considered important in the past with variety of career subjects taught in high school. However, nowadays after the adjustment of the main curriculum, the importance of career subjects has lessened. As a result, the number of lessons in business related courses, the hiring rate of business teachers, and the productions of business teachers in higher education institutions are reduced.

Business Education in the 21st century should adjust its curriculum and teaching method to emphasize on producing students with necessary and smart life skills and necessary work skills. This can be achieved by providing them with knowledge in finance, economics, business, technology and entrepreneurship, and creating a collaborated network of parents, business sectors and communities. Institutions producing Business Education teachers should incorporate more technology and modern business knowledge into teaching method. They should also establish Business Education network between institutions to raise the awareness of the society and all involved making them recognize the importance of Business Education. Their Business Education policy should increase the number of teachers in this filed, increase the number of class hours in vocation classes and business education classes, and include them in the core curriculum for all students so they can become smarter consumers and can acquire necessary skills for their future careers.
