Abstract

Abstract

The case study of Wat Sao Tong Hin School is part of the development of educational quality and standard of the schools under the Nonthaburi provincial administration project. The objectives of this project are as follows:1)To study the context of the school 2)To study the activities, media and developmental program plans 3) To study the outcome of the developmental project and its impact on the administrative staff, the management of the administration and teachers, the lesson instructions, the school’s environmental management system, as well as, the students’ achievement and their preferred learning styles 4) To study the impact of the school development project on the students’ leaning ability and the lives of those involved, plus the impact on the community.

The focus group interviewed for this study consisted of 1 director, 10 teachers, 2 teaching assistants, 2 janitorial staff, 69 kindergarten students and 129 students from Prathom 1 – 6. They were selected according to the following criteria: 1) Student achievement log. 2) NT and O-NET scores. 3) Survey on lesson planning. 4) Survey reflecting on opinion of training activities. 5) Dok Nonsri Baan Day survey.  6) Interview from Dok Nonsri Baan Day. 7) Follow up survey on lesson planning.  8) Follow up survey on ‘Improving School Management’. 9) Field observation form.

At the end of this study, the key findings are summerized in the following section.        1) Wat Saotong Hin is a small school with a teacher to student ratio of 1:8 2) There were 4 work plans, 7 projects and 10 days of workshops that the teachers participated in. Results from the survey concluded that knowledge gained from the workshops was at a high level ( =3.80, SD=0.440) Satisfaction levels for activities were also high ( =3.67, SD=0.726)  There were also a high number of participants of the workshops who found it useful regarding the benefit of the application of knowledge, as a whole, is in excellent level. 3) The results of the development projects are: 3.1) There are changes in the administrative staff and 10 modifications in the system of the administration. 3.2)There are changes in the teachers and instructions in 11 areas 3.3)There are changes in the school environment. The learning community center has been established and its construction completed. The construction of the teachers’ hub is still on going. The improvement of the environments that will enhance the process of leisurely learning is still on going as well. 3.4) There is improvement in the students’ performance and grades. 4) In terms of the impact on the community, there is a live broadcast to educate the members. Moreover, the teachers provide occupational lessons and instructions for the members of the community. The community cooperates with the school in greater aspects.
