Abstract

Video is one of the widely used learning media at present because video can record both picture and voice simultaneously. We can edit, re-record and re-use the video immediately. In addition, we can replay it, choose its playing speed and track on demand, and present it synchronously and asynchronously through different technologies related to OTT (over-the-top content). Video is used as a teaching media, a tool for activities and for communication to support critical thinking, problem solving, communicating, coordinating, creative thinking among learners. It also helps building innovation based on learning activities which are used in universities or educational institutions where the third party can also have access to the learning content. Video assisted learning could save learners’ time and maximize learning value. In particular, the interactive video design with questions inserted into the content to encourage learners to answer. This will support the self-learning procedure among learners. Such an approach is similar to the interaction between learners and content, which motivates learners despite complex learning content. Video can offer a presentation learners will understand and be able to follow. Thus, the instructor should consider the necessity of changing the behavior of the learner to meet the learning objective or learners' skill for the 21st century by designing various interactions in the video. For example, adding a 5W1H question between the topics of learning. Such interactive video can be created from different websites such as H5P or Edpuzzle where interactive video can be created from the existing video in Youtube with HTML 5. Another option is to use plugin for the Learning Management System to let learners feel interaction while learning even when they are using the self-learning approach.
