The Journal of Behavioral Science <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Editorial Announcement</strong> — regarding the title change of the Journal.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">On behalf of the editorial board, we wish to announce the change in our journal’s title name from “International Journal of Behavioral Science” to <strong>“The Journal of Behavioral Science”</strong>. From July 2018 (issue 2) the journal will publish under its original title “The Journal of Behavioral Science” that was registered with the ISSN since 2006.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Please note that the change in name does not presage any changes in the policy of our journal. We will continue to strengthen the quality of our journal by publishing the best academic works in the field of behavioral science.</p> <p><strong>About the Journal</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The&nbsp;<strong>Journal of Behavioral Science </strong>(JBS) is a peer reviewed, open access scholarly journal that has been published by the Behavioral Science Research Institute (BSRI), at Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok, Thailand since 2006.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The journal has a focus on publishing academic works that present an inter-disciplinary content of the behavioral sciences. The journal has clear ethical policies and follows the double blind peer review process for all the submissions to the journal.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Our journal is <strong>indexed</strong> in national and international database for journals. While it is indexed in the Tier 1 database of the Thailand Citation Index Center (<strong>TCI</strong>), on the international front, the journal is indexed in the ASEAN Citation Index (<strong>ACI</strong>), and also included in the list of journals hosted by the prestigious <strong>EBSCO </strong>database. The JBS is also indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (<strong>ESCI</strong>) hosted by the Web of Science (previously known as ISI Web of Knowledge).</p> <p><strong>Aims and Scope</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The <strong>aim</strong> of this journal is to endow a platform for authors to publish their original academic work that seeks explanations for understanding behavior through an interdisciplinary perspective of behavioral sciences. Using anonymous questionnaire survey, the research sample was comprised of 802 undergraduate university students of a public university in the north of Thailand. Structural Equation Modelling with SPSS Amos 21 was conducted to test all hypotheses. As predicted, purpose in life, peer support, satisfaction with teaching quality are related to study engagement as its antecedents.  The main contribution of this study pertains to the results of the path model, which indicate that study engagement not only has direct relationships to academic success, but also it fully mediates the effects of purpose in life, peer support, and satisfaction with teaching quality on academic success. The sample group was selected by simple random sampling. The instrument used a six-point Likert-type scale. The reliability coefficient Cronbach’s alpha value ranged from .95 to .97. Data were analyzed using LISREL. The results showed that the model fits the empirical data, considering goodness of fit measures, namely Chi-square = 422.66 (<em>df </em>= 165), p-value = 0.00, (<em>χ2/df</em>) = 2.56, CFI = 1.00, RMSEA = 0.04, and SRMR = 0.04. The perception of campus image was found to be the highest direct predictor of participatory behavior towards university social responsibility (β = .72); all causal variables accounted for sixty percent of the variance of participatory behavior towards university social responsibility. The perception of university support was found to be the highest direct predictor of the perception of campus image (β = .45); all causal variables accounted for sixty two percent of the variance of the perception of campus image. The findings are considered to be useful in terms of planning information to improve campus image, and university support for raising awareness and promoting socially responsible behaviors among the new generation so as to nurture high quality human capital in society, which is a vital force for sustainable development in a nation.</p> Kasasorn Nuchprasop, Ungsinun Intarakamhang ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Oct 2017 00:00:00 +0700 The Participatory Behavior of Stakeholders toward Solid Waste Management: A Case Study in Thailand <p>The purpose of this study was to examine a relationship model between the variables of problem perception of solid waste management, public mind, servant leadership, happiness and well-being that affect the participatory behavior of the stakeholders regarding the solid waste management in Ratchaburi, a province of Thailand.The study sample included community enterprise members, tourism entrepreneurs, community leaders, staff of the local administrative organization and officers from related government agencies in the Ratchaburi province. In this study, 400 participants completed the questionnaires and 40 participants were interviewed. Validity, reliability and discrimination were assessed to measure the quality of the research instrument. Path analysis was used to test the proposed relationship model and content analysis was used to analyze the data from the interviews. The results showed that the most important factors affecting the participatory behavior of the stakeholders toward solid waste management were public mind, followed by problem perception of solid waste management, servant leadership, well-being and happiness. These variables accounted for 19 percent of the variance of participatory behavior of the stakeholders toward solid waste management. Happiness, well-being, public mind and servant leadership accounted for 43 percent of the variance of problem perception of solid waste management. The findings from this study suggest a psychological relationship model in order to promote participatory behavior toward solid waste management. Behavioral and socio-economic interventions for solid waste management are discussed.</p> Rattigorn Chongvisal ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Oct 2017 00:00:00 +0700 The Influence of Multilevel Factors of Human Resource Practices on Innovative Work Behavior <p>In the competitive business world today, many industries face the flux of rapid change, especially in the ICT industry. Therefore companies should focus on innovative work behavior (IWB) in order to gain a competitive advantage. The focus of this research are the human resource practices that are needed to overcome the difficulty in sustaining innovative work behavior in the organizations. This study combines the Ability, Motivation and Opportunity (AMO) theory from human resource practices and a componential theory of creativity from innovative work behavior to the study of employees working in the ICT organizations listed in The Stock Exchange of Thailand (2016).&nbsp; It aims to test a conceptual multilevel model of human resource practices and innovative work behavior through the individual mediating variable of employee work passion, and the group mediating variable of innovation trust. The sample of the study were 66 groups from 326 respondents, selected by using a multi-stage cluster random sampling technique. The results show that the model fits the empirical data, considering goodness of fit measures, namely Chi-square = 667.67 (df = 324), p-value = 0.000, (χ2/df) = 2.06, CFI = 0.94, TLI = 0.93, RMSEA = 0.06, and SRMR<sub>w</sub> = 0.06. SRMR<sub>b </sub>= 0.16. The results of this study suggest that employee work passion is very important as a mediating variable at the individual level for enhancing innovative work behavior. Moreover, innovation trust is very important as a full mediating variable to increase innovative work behavior at group levels.</p> Sukumarl Koednok, Mullika Sungsanit ##submission.copyrightStatement## Sat, 27 Jan 2018 14:32:42 +0700 Effect of Brand Community Commitment on Loyalty and Brand Outcomes in Iranian Samsung Mobile Users <p>The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of brand community commitment on loyalty and brand outcomes between Iranian Samsung mobile users. Cluster sampling method has been used to collect data from 384 mobile users. The instrument used in this quantitative research was a questionnaire which had been qualified for reliability and validity. The proposed hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM). Path coefficients of all hypotheses were statistically significant in the predicted direction. Findings confirm that brand community commitment has a positive and significant impact on loyalty (repurchase intention, word-of-mouth, constructive complaint) and brand outcomes (brand attachment, brand commitment and brand trust). These results have some behavioral implications about brand community commitment and sustainable development, which are explained in the discussion and conclusion section.</p> Amir Khazaei Pool, Morteza Khazaei Pool, Hadi Manjiri ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Oct 2017 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Service Quality Perception on Two Key Manifestations of Attitudinal Loyalty <p>This study aimed at testing the relevant dimensions of service quality perception of customers in mobile telecommunication sector, and examining the effect of overall service quality on two key manifestations of attitudinal loyalty, including repurchase intention and positive word-of-mouth. A total of 557 valid questionnaires, collected from current mobile phone users in Vietnam, were tested in this study. Prior to employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for testing hypotheses, confirmatory factor analysis verified five distinct factors contributing to overall service quality. These five service quality dimensions consist of call quality, price policy, convenience, customer support, and added services. The results from hypotheses testing indicated that overall service quality has a positive impact on repurchase intention of customers as well as their intention of disseminating positive word-of-mouth. The findings of this study not only added more knowledge to deepen the understanding of service quality and consumer psychology in the field of mobile telecommunication service, but also yielded a number of practical implications for mobile carriers in Vietnam. Based on the study’s findings, some suggestions were made so that mobile network operators in Vietnam could retain their customers more effectively.</p> Nguyen Xuan Tho, Chang Chia Hua ##submission.copyrightStatement## Sat, 27 Jan 2018 14:27:11 +0700 Predictive Factors for Health-Related Quality of Life among Thai Traumatic Brain Injury Patients <p class="Default">Factors related to health-related quality of life (HRQoL) have been studied widely but there is limited research about traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors living in low and middle income countries where social context and care environment are different. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the factors predicting HRQoL among Thai TBI survivors. Sample included 200 people who had TBI and were selected through purposive sampling at least 1 month after discharge based on their medical records from two tertiary care hospitals in southern Thailand. They were interviewed using the Quality of Life after Traumatic Brain Injury (QOLIBRI) instrument. The selected factors examined as independent variables included Glasgow coma scale (GCS), functional and disability, anxiety/ depression, social support and community integration, and some demographic factors. Results revealed that the significant positive relationships existed between HRQoL and GCS, community integration and social support; while a negative relationship with anxiety and depression was reported. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that all of five factors could significantly predict HRQoL at 58.3%.&nbsp; In conclusion, five important factors (GCS, social support, anxiety, depression, and community integration) predicted HRQoL which required comprehensive interventions.
