The Development Model of the Living Library for Temples in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the status of temple library management in Thailand, to develop a model of living library for temples in Thailand, and to propose a model of living library development for temples in Thailand. The results of the study found that: 1. The status of temple library management; The role of temple as the center of education was declined, The library service recipients were also declined because they could access sources of knowledge from modern technology, Information resources in the temple library were not interesting,The location of the temple library was uncomfortable to reach,People could access information through other channels,Working hours were unstable, The library was lacked of support from the executives, and It was lacked of budget. 2. A model of living library development for temples in Thailand consisted of 3 factors; (1) Basic factor consisted of physical readiness, management and service activities, (2) Administration consisted of vision, hospitality, budget, activities, area, and users, and (3) Achievement consisted of good benefits, good quality, good value and good ethics. 3. The level of living library development model for temples in Thailand was totally high. In details, basic factor was at the highest level, followed by achievement and administration respectively.
