Abstract

Aims To develop the Thai version of Schizophrenic Caregiver Quality of Life (S-CGQoL-Thai) Scaleand to test psychometric properties of this instrument including validity and reliability.

Methods. This study was instrument development design and use back translation technique. Item relevance was assessed by five experts and measured using content validity index (CVI).  The pre-testing of internal consistency was conducted by a convenience sampling of 30 Schizophrenic Caregiver. The main study was conducted to test psychometric properties of the S-CGQoL-Thai by 297of Schizophrenic Caregiver. Test adequate of sample size by Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and test an adequacy of item correlation matrix by Bartlett test of sphericity.Confirmatory factor analysis and Monte Carlo simulations were used to confirm the factors of instrument.

Results The S-CGQoL-Thai version of 22itemsshowedCVI = 1.00,Convergence validity indicate correlation between S-CGQoL-Thai Scale andWHOQOL–BREF–THAI.GoodConstruct validity,  Kaiser – Meyer – Olkin =0.83,Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity: χ2 = 4353.152, df =231, p < 0.001. High Internal consistency Reliability (α = 0.86). High correlation of test re-test (Pearson Correlation = 0.80 , p < 0.01 (Two-Tailed Significance) andCorrected Item-Total Correlationrang between0.25-0.64. The Principal Component Analysis extract5 competence and excellence total variance explained 70.09%

Conclusion The test results suggested that The S-CGQoL-Thai version scale has potentialbenefitsforpsychiatric and mental health care team to assess quality of life of Schizophrenic Caregiver for both research and clinical purposes.
