About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Journal of Science and Science Education, or JSSE, ISSN 2586-9256 (print) and ISSN 2697-410X (online), is hosted by the Faculty of Science, Ubon Ratchathani University. It aims to be a platform for publishing both research, academic, and review articles in science (such as chemistry, biology, physics, microbiology, material science, environmental science, mathematics, statistics, computer, and information technology, etc.) and science education, including computer education, technological education, educational technology, and mathematics education. A manuscript that has never been published in other journals can be prepared either in Thai or English. It should comprise interesting content and deliver modern knowledge or novelty.
The JSSE is categorized as follows: main subject category is in social sciences, subject areas are in social sciences, and sub-subject is in education. In addition, the JSSE also comprises four sub-subjects under physical sciences, including general chemistry, general computer science, general mathematics, and physics & astronomy.
All submitted manuscripts have to undergo a double-blind review process before publishing. The JSSE is scheduled to publish 2 issues per year: No. 1 (January-June) and No. 2 (July-December). If there is a special event related to the focus scope of the journal, supplementary issues will be considered case by case.
JSSE’s Research Ethics Policy
JSSE requests author(s) to identify their research ethical approval from their institutional review board (IRB). In case the research ethical approval is not applicable, please explain how your research study follows the ethics of research with humans and animals.
The JSSE's Research Ethics Policy has been changed regarding all manuscripts involving research in humans or animals as follows:
- IRB approval of research ethics in humans or animals is not required. Any article that won't be used for student graduation or acquiring academic positions.
- Classroom action research article by undergraduate students: The confirmation document from an advisor or a program director is sufficient.
- Independent study (IS) article by graduate students: The confirmation document from an IS advisor or a program director is sufficient.
- IRB approval of research ethics in humans or animals is required: any article that will be used for acquiring academic positions (both faculty members and school teachers).
- Optional based on JSSE editorial board decision: Any article that will be used for student graduation. The JSSE editorial board will examine if the IRB approval is required or not.
JSSE’s Plagiarism Policy
JSSE realizes the importance of a plagiarism check of all manuscripts submitted to our journal. All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism automatically by the system called CopyCatch, or Copyright, Academic Work, and Thesis Checking System. The plagiarism may be further checked via www.akarawisut.com. In addition, the editorial team and reviewers will also check for any plagiarism during the review process.
Peer Review Process
Each of the manuscripts that reaches JSSE criteria will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 reviewers, and the review process will be double-blinded.
Publication Charge
A processing charge (APC) of 1500 Baht/article has been announced by JSSE, which will be charged for a submitted manuscript prior to sending the manuscript to the review process from Jan 2023 onwards. This fee will be charged once the manuscript meets the basic criteria of JSSE.
This payment is not a guarantee that the manuscript will be accepted for publication. The manuscript will undergo the review process as usual.

Open Access
The JSSE provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global knowledge exchange. JSSE allows for immediate free access to the work and permits any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose. The full text of all content in JSSE is available for free and open access without delay.

- No charge for the print version of JSSE
