The Assessment of Key Success Factors of Financial Institution’s Operational Risk Management

Abstract

The purposes of this research are 1) to consider six factors pertaining to operational risk management in order to identify ones that really affect and 2) to study that which of the six factors
is the key success factor for the corporate operational risk management. The research applied the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as the tool for prioritizing the key success factors. The results
from this study are analytical and seek to describe the factors related to the enterprise risk management. The research result show that the risk of fraud, one of the factors under corporate
operational risk management, is the most important factor that affects enterprise risk management. Sub-factor that affect the most in each factor are as follows: 1) the monitoring and auditing are the most important factors that affect the risk of fraud, 2) hazard identification, risk assessment, and workplace risk controlling are the most important factors that affect the risk of employment practices and workplace safety, 3) option in risk management, cost analysis and benefit are the most important factors that affect the risk of damage to physical assets, 4) the risk assessment and business effect are the most important factors that affect the risk business disruption and system failures, 5) the customer risk management is the most important factors that affect the risk of client, products, and business practices, and 6) risk index is the most important factors that affect the risk of execution, delivery and process management. We also find the key factors that mostly affect the success of operational risk management and improve those key factors, accordingly.
