Abstract

Peasant farmers are a priority of the country since rice is the most important crop inThailand. In rice planting, the production costs involved are allotted to direct materials such as
the rice seeds, fertilizer and pesticides. Meanwhile, direct labor costs are wages paid at the rice paddy for the planting and harvesting of rice. In addition, the labor cost includes the operation of
rice machinery and agricultural vehicles such as tractors and harvesters. The cost of production overhead in rice farming, on the other hand, includes the cost of electricity, fuel bills, maintenance
and repair of equipment, rental of land, and land taxes. Today, rice farming has changed from being a self-supporting industry to something grown for market competition. Thus, the farmers must
focus on ways to reduce the costs of production in order to get maximum profits.
