ASSEMBLING THE LOCAL COMMUNICATORS TO PUBLICIZE THE COMMUNITY PLAN FOR PRESERVING THE MANGROVE FOREST IN HUA KHAO, SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research had objectives: 1) developing the personal potential in community to be smart communicator, 2) analyzing the local demand for producing media to publicize the appropriate community plans, and 3) publicizing / extending the content of community plans via demand-responsive and adoptable medias. The sample compose of the mangrove forest and coastal resource management committee who responsibility in public relation and the multicultural local representatives. The key results from this research was summarized by three aspects. First aspect, the development of personal potential to be smart communicator could be achieved via selection of targeted community leaders to be smart communicator, finding the communication potential of community leaders, holding the meeting for revision of community plan, arranging the training knowledge. Including meeting up the relevant stakeholders, holding the brainstorm meeting for preparation of driving community plan, setting up the activities from community plan, meeting for the project assessment, and lessons learnt from assembling the local communicators. The second aspect, analyzing the local media demand could be found that the local people use the personal media, broadcasting tower, activity media, a new media and a public relation via religious activities for driving the community plan. The last aspect, the community leaders chose to publicize and extend the content of the community plans via two main activities: determination of regulation and scope of the mangrove forest using, and the educational field trip. The community plans were publicized via the existing local medias which can be easily accessed and widespread.
