A Guideline for Developing the Management of Office of Lao Buddhism Relation Organization, Savannakhet Province, Lao People Democratic Republic

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to investigate the current state, problem, and a guideline for developing the management of Office of Lao Buddhism Relations Organization, 2) The create a guideline management evaluation guideline of Office of Lao Buddhism Relations Organization Savannakhet province, Lao People Democratic Republic. A sample, which was selected by purposive sampling comprised of 15 people. The instruments used in the study were a structured interview guide and a rating scale questionnaire. Statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

            `Findings of the study were as follows:

1. The current state of the Office of Lao Buddhism Relations Organization, the operation operated under rules, regulations and orders from the Lao Buddhism Relations Organization, and there was the clear management structure system, and management committee were appointed. The selection of monks whose year of ordain or rank is high to be a manager incurred problems, because they usually lacked of knowledge and understanding of management and it resulted in a delay of decision making and a lack of skill in using technology. The old age caused such problems. A guideline for developing the management was to acknowledge the committee through study visits, field trips, and learning exchanges. The office which has a good management model is able to contribute the high efficiency and target to the Office’s personnel.


2. Guidelines and results of the evaluation of the management development approach of Office of Lao Buddhism Relations Organization, Savannakhet province, Lao PDR was found that the draft guideline for it after workshop and brainstorming comprised the following: 1) title of the project, 2) rationale, 3) objectives of the project, 4) duration, 5) activities of the project, 6) indicators, 7) measurement and evaluation, and 8) benefits. The result of assessing the overall guideline for developing the management of Office of Lao Buddhism Relations Organization, Savannakhet province, Lao PDR showed that it was at high level (mean = 3.96).
