Abstract

This paper aims to study news consuming behaviors via social network, opinions of people in Bangkok towards news reporting via social network and their opinions about news coverage through social network, to as the categorized by their characteristics and news exposure behavior. Questionnaires were used as a tool to collect data from 400 subjects. The statistics used to analyze data were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, and One-way Analysis of Variance. The results reveal that most of the respondents are female aging between 20-29 years old, held a bachelor’s degree, with monthly income approximately 5,000-10,000 Baht, and mostly are students. They are exposed to news reporting via social network, particularly Facebook during 21:00-24:00 hrs and reportedly spent 15-30 minutes to receive daily information updates. In addition, the sample agrees with the respondents with news content and the language of the news. The hypothesis test reveals that 1) difference in gender, age, and occupation significantly have different opinions towards news reporting on social network and 2) Those with difference in duration and place of news consuming significantly have different opinion towards news reporting on social network.
