Abstract

The series of projects entitled the Development of Public Spaces and Built Environments in Phitsanulok Municipality were initiated by Faculty of Architecture, Naresuan University under the clause from the Memorandum of Understanding between the university and the municipality. The projects had spanned from the year 2013-2016. The projects were used as the base for design projects assigned to the 4th year of the bachelor of architecture programme. The final productions of the projects were then distributed back for feedbacks from the general public through a yearly exhibition. During the course of the 4 years of these programmes being active, the projects had been viewed kindly from the general public being given the rate of satisfaction between good and very good in overall. Most positive comments were towards its usefulness as well as its inspiration on constructive development of the community. However, the main drawbacks preventing the useful ideas from materialise into reality are limitation of communication, understandings, and stability of the development policy as well as the budget setting aside for such development. To overcome these obstacles will require participations from stakeholders as basis for healthy development of the Phitsanulok community.
