Abstract

The propose of the research is 1) to study the problems and needs in packaging design of Phuket pineapple products, 2)to design identity on packaging of Phuket pineapple products, and 3) to assess the perception and satisfaction of the manufacturers, consumers and packaging experts on the Phuket pineapple packaging that the researchers designed by 100 samples, with the tools used in the research. such as unstructured interviews and questionnaires to analyze percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results show that fresh pineapple in Phuket has no packaging for distribution. Therefore, we have designed the packaging with corrugated cardboard structure E that has core, corrugated cardboard structure C that has spheres 14 different sizes to control the maturation of pineapple. Head and stem of pineapple packed up for 2 pineapples and weight 3 kg.

The concept of graphic design is derived from the structure of the Phuket Pineapple, a plant that has been recognized as a unique geographical indication (GI) in Phuket. This pattern is redesigned as the background of the packaging and combined with Phuket map and identified Phuket Pineapple Growing Area, using colors, backgrounds and letters to convey the product. The results of the assessment of the target group were at a high level ( gif.latex?\bar{X}= 4.25) (S.D.=0.68). The results of the satisfaction assessment of the target group were at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.15) (S.D.=0.74). The further research should be to design a new packaging design that has the identity of Phuket with packaging design that can measure the ripeness value of pineapple and make it more convenient to use.
