Political Awareness Situation of Residents in Udon Thani Municipality

Abstract

The research aimed to (1) study the state of political awareness of people in Udon Thani Municipality and (2) study and analyze the political awareness issue of people in Udon Thani Municipality.Qualitative research was used. The key informants were of 14 political actors consisted of: (1) 3 Udon Thani Municipality administrators, 3 community leaders, 5 community committees, and 3 science scholars. The research instruments were semi-structured interviews and analyzed data by inductive method. The results of the research found that (1) the state of political awareness before the coup in 2014 the people had high political awareness, but after the coup in 2014 the people have had the political inertia. (2) the prominent political issue interested by the people was the perception of political information through all types of social media.
