The Strategies to Enhance the Required Competencies to using Information and Communication Technology for Learning of Undergraduates in Interdisciplinary Local Development Major Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) Study the condition, problem and treat of students 2) establish strategies for supporting the potential to use information technology to learn for students. The samples were undergraduates in major of Interdisciplinary courses for local development of Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University who are studying in the 2015 academic year, 9 generation, 240 persons; they were selected By Krejcie and Morgan’ table and compared the proportion of the population using stratified random sampling proportionately. The tools used in quantitative research questionnaires to study current conditions, problems and hinders to strengthen the competencies required to use information technology for student learning. And tools used in qualitative research were Issues include in-depth interviews Issues and focus group discussions with the management learning center..


The results showed that:


  1. Problems and hinders potential to use information technology to learn for students in major of Interdisciplinary for local development Chaiyaphum Ratjabhat University found that the overall level of student opinion on the current condition of the capacity building required to use information technology for student learning at a moderate level. There are moderate comments on all sides.

Problems and hinders the capacity building potential to use information and communications technology for student learning. The analysis of open-ended questionnaires and in-depth interviews found that overall, the opinions of administrative center and student were inconsistent. Which can be summarized as follows: slow internet connection/ internet access to remote areas not reached low of communication. As a poor student computer use. Do not use computers and no have basic to use computers lack a consultant to advise on media, technology or computers of the guide and how to use it. seldom have time to learn it to make a living. Lack of skills in the use of IT, have a faith in information technology at work is not about technology, it is not important, medium of instruction is out of dated. Equipment not in use. Out of dated equipment and elderly students. Using a computer no knowledge of computers. The lack of research on the computer and Internet. Teaching disproportionate number of students, lack of care and access to information about the use of students. students of different ages. Both young age and the elderly, the teaching objectives or learning problems in communication between the two groups.


2. The results of the potentiality study of major of Interdisciplinary for local development Chaiyaphum Ratjabhat University found that graphically illustrate the status indicators in that direction have been revised strategy. (Unfavorable and soft) showed, major of Interdisciplinary for local development Chaiyaphum Ratjabhat University are obstacles in the implementation of external factors. The agency also has its weaknesses and to develop new strategies need to be developed focused strategies. By reducing vulnerability and avoid obstacles can be defined as a strategy to strengthen the competencies potential to use information technology for student learning. Interdisciplinary for local development Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University have 4 strategic include the following : 1. strategic to develop the curriculum and strategic learning process to develop the students have the potential according to the needs of the country. 2. strategic the development potential of students to the society of lifelong learning is sustainable. 3. strategic to reform the Management instructional materials and technology, including innovations for sustainable learning. 4. strategic manage the learning environment to learn of local resources and information service to the community and social aspects.
