Eighty EFL subjects from a university in the northeastern Thailand participated in the study formed two groups. The experimental group worked on concordance materials, whereas the traditional vocabulary exercises were given to the
control group. The results showed that the experimental group with the concordance based teaching had more positive effects on subjects’ vocabulary learning than the traditional vocabulary teaching technique. Moreover, the experimental group outperformed the control group in the vocabulary retention test. The results suggested that the subjects were able to work on concordance vocabulary teaching and datadriven
learning strategies could be promoted as a useful vocabulary teaching technique for Thai subjects. They also offered some support to the ideathat learning vocabulary through concordance lines could help to improve subjects’ vocabularyretention. KeyWords: Data Driven Learning, Vocabulary learning and teaching, Concordancing- based teaching
2017-12-26T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## Autonomous Learning through an Online English Learning Program by Low Proficiency EFL Students 2017-12-27T08:55:39+07:00 Jiraporn Dhanarattigannon Savika Varaporn Pong-ampai Kongcharoen
Abstract

The prime concern of this present study is to answer a question whether an online language program as one of autonomous learning activities can promote positive perceptions on autonomous language learning of low proficiency EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students. Along with the perception, this study tends to explore the difficulties in implementing an online language program to promote autonomy among these students. The quantitative inquiry was conducted through the collection of a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. Participants were the intact group of low proficiency Thai EFL students enrolling in Foundation English I course at a public university in Bangkok, Thailand. The main findings show that the majority of the participants had positive perceptions on using an online language program. Moreover, the online language learning was found to be effective in allowing students to control their own learning pace, which is one of the attributes of
autonomous learning. However, a few students had difficulty adapting to autonomous learning through the online language program. Such difficulties were related to the factors including cultural interferences, self-discipline, and learning skills. The results of the study support the idea that, through an online language program, low proficiency EFL students can develop their learning autonomy if they have clear understandings of the sense of learning authority that has been shifted, and are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and strategies necessary for autonomous learning.
2017-12-26T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## The Conflicts between the Government Sector and People: A Case Study of the 1974 arson at Ban Nasai in Nasing Sub-district, Srivilai District, Bung Kan Province 2017-12-27T08:56:53+07:00 Khatawoot Yawanopas Vinai Poncharoen Tatchawat Loasuwan
Abstract

This qualitative study was conducted to investigate: 1) the arson incident in 1974 at Ban Nasai, Tambon Na Singh, Amphoe Srivilai, Bung Kan province; 2) the key factors led to the conflict between the government and the local people; and 3) the consequences after the reinforcement of the anti-communism suppression measure at Ban Nasai within the Phu Singh Operation Area 222. The data was collected from the previous
research papers and the interview with the participants. Also, the literature review was used to construct the research framework and the descriptive analysis was performed to explain the arson incident. The outcome was found as follows. 1. The 1974 arson incident at Ban Nasai indicated there was really the consequence after the careless operation. Those officers were unable to differentiate between normal people and the communist, so they mistakenly burned down the whole village and killed innocent people. This excessive action of the officers was claimed as the communism suppression measure. 2. The key factors that led to the conflict between the government sector and people and over the arson incident at Ban Nasai and resulted as the political conflict were attitudes, behavior, and objectives. That is, the conflict started since these three factors did not go along each other. Hence, the conflict grew and reached its peak in which the existence of one side finally became an obstruction for the success of another side. 3. The communism suppression measure reinforced at Ban Nasai entails several negative consequences including: 1) loss of life and property; 2) repeated fighting and spreading violence; and 3) disharmony. Eventually, the people decided to leave the village join a group of the communist settled in the wood. Keywords: Conflicts, Government Sector and People.
2017-12-26T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## Investigating the Corruption Method in Procurement Process within the Sub-District Administrative Organizations in Maha Sarakham Province 2017-12-27T10:37:24+07:00 Chanarong Buntha Alongkorn Akkasang Supasawad Chardchawarn
Abstract

This study was conducted with three typical purposes to: 1) investigate the corruption method in the procurement process within the sub-district administrative organizations in Maha Sarakham province; 2) understand the attitude of the business owners and the local organization leaders toward the corrupted procurement within the province; and 3) look for proper solutions to prevent the corrupted procurement.
Particularly in this study, most of the participants were the business owners and the rest was the local organization leaders and the methodology was mixed between qualitative and quantitative researching techniques. The data were collected by a self-rating questionnaire covering 15 variables representing three selected factors, i.e., organizational characteristics, environmental characteristics, and employee and practices characteristics respectively. The samples selected were those 360 respondents representing administrators, lecturers and employees, distinguished members of the councils of respective community colleges, and students enrolled in the academic year of 1/2015. There were 350 respondents returned the questionnaires, with the returning rate of 97.22 per cent. An open-ended questionnaire was also used to solicit the suggestions for improvement of the curriculum management from the selected nine focus group members. The statistical analyses employed included content analysis, frequencies, means, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression. The results revealed that the community colleges carried out activities related to all 15 variables under the 3 factors under study at a high level. Only 9 out of 15 variables, however, significantly exerted impacts on the overall management of curriculum, with 7 variables at .01 level and 2 variables at .05 level. Among these 9 effective variables, 3 variables represented organizational characteristics, 2 variables represented environmental characteristics, and 4 variables represented employee and practices characteristics respectively. There were 5 variables significantly impacted the management of curriculum for local development; while only 4 variables did so on the management of curriculum for employment and for certificate degree. The suggestions for further improvement of the curriculum management as collected from the focus group members included giving priority for more resource allocation to those activities reflecting effective factors, with proper monitoring and evaluating mechanism, in line with the continuous process of curriculum development.
2017-12-26T00:00:00+07:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## Developing a bilingual folktale student book for improving Chinese competency of 6th grade primary school students at Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University Demonstration School. 2018-01-06T18:25:03+07:00 Thussaneewan Srimanta
Abstract

The current study was conducted to 1) develop Chinese learning plan for sixth grade primary school students at the Demonstration School of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University using bilingual folktale student book for fostering morality of Pha Yuen Kantarawichai (Ancient Buddha Image of Kantarawichai district) having efficiency standard at the level of 80/80, 2) indicate effectiveness index of the Chinese learning plan for sixth grade primary school students at the Demonstration School of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University using Abstract The current study was conducted to 1) develop Chinese learning plan for sixth grade primary school students at the Demonstration School of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University using bilingual folktale student book for fostering morality of Pha Yuen Kantarawichai (Ancient Buddha Image of Kantarawichai district) having efficiency standard at the level of 80/80, 2) indicate effectiveness index of the Chinese learning plan for sixth grade primary school students at the Demonstration School of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University using bilingual folktale student book for implanting morality of Pha Yuen, 3) investigate effectiveness of the Chinese learning plan using bilingual folktale student book for fostering morality of Pha Yuen Kantarawichai to the sixth grade primary school students at The Demonstration School of Rajabhat Maha Sarakham University, and 4) investigate students’ satisfaction on the developed learning model.
