Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the information literacy of the nursing students at Mahasarakham University. The study sample included 82 sophomore nursing students who enrolled in the nursing informatics course in the first semester of 2017. The research tools included 1) questionnaire for collecting data on their information literacy, 2) information literacy skills development activities, and 3) assessment forms for measuring their levels of information literacy. The study findings revealed that the first information source used by the nursing students was internet via their smart phones, and most of them participated in the online database searching activity. Their information literacy capabilities were found at the high level, but 5 indicators of the information literacy standards were reportedly at the moderate level. Four information literacy skills development activities were organized. After the activities had been conducted, the nursing students’ literacy skills were as significantly high as .01.
