The Impacts of New Road Networks on Physical Changes in Nonthaburi Province : A Case Study of the Klong-Om-Non Community

Abstract

The research investigated physical changes along Ratchaphruek road, opinions of the community concerning the construction of Ratchaphruek Road, and the changing trends in the Om-Non community. Data were collected from historical documents, interviewing the sampling group and observing the study area. The Geographic Information Technology System (GIS) was used to analyze those data. The study revealed that the construction of Ratchaphruek Road was the main factor causing physical changes within the area.  Due to the convenient access, the high land price, and the decline in agricultural productivitiy, several pieces of lands were sold.  However, although the use of land had been changed 93% of the sample people in the community appreciated the construction of Ratchaphruek Road.  Moreover,  it was also reported that the physical changes in the future of the Om-Non Community were expected to continue in respouse to Nontraburi Province policies on city development.
