บทคัดย่อ

Abstract 

          Objectives  To determine the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in Thai students aged 13-17 years.

          Materials and methods  The sample were students aged 13-17 year in high school year 1st-3rd to 4th-6th or vocational school year 1st-3rd from 17 provinces and 3 districts of Bangkok. Data was collected with Thai Diagnostic Interview for Children and Adolescents-Revised (T-DICA-R): adolescent version and was analyzed with descriptive statistic and estimated of weighted prevalence.

          Results  Total 3,100 students were voluntary, which were 92.6 percent response rate. Male  were 49.9 percent, average aged 14.9 years. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders after data weighting was 15.0 percent.The three most common mental disorders included generalized anxiety disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and conduct disorder. The prevalence of any  substance use disorder found 15.6 percent which alcohol abuse/dependence was the most frequent. For any psychiatric disorders or any substance use disorder, its prevalence was 26.0 while current and lifetime prevalence of suicide attempts were 0.4 and 1.1 respectively.

          Conclusion  The current prevalence of mental disorders among adolescent student was 15.0 percent, concordant when comparing with similar methodology. The three most common psychiatric disorders were included GAD, ADHD and CD and alcohol abuse/dependence was most common for behavior disorders of substance used. Data utilizing to improve in service accessibility will deduct loss on both personal and national level.
