Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the satisfaction of pediatric patients with cancer and caregivers’ satisfaction regarding care management of an advanced practice nurse (APN). The sample consisted of 1) fifty-one pediatric patients with cancer and 2) fifty-one care givers. The study was conducted in a super tertiary care at Srinagarind hospital. Data were collected using a demographic records, a child satisfaction ques-tionnaire, and a caregiver satisfaction questionnaire. The children and the caregiver satisfaction questionnaires had Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for overall scales of 0.914 and 0.927 consecutively. Data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.The results were found that pediatric patients with cancer, aged 6-15 years old with a mean age of 10.6 years (SD = 2.73), participated in this study. Majority of them were male (66.7%). Caregivers, aged 25-63 years old with a mean age of 40.3 years (SD = 8.88), participated in this study. Most of them were female (76.5%), The pediatric patients’ satisfaction with top three highest scores were 1) if I can choose, I want to get care services as I get now, 2) I got services from the nurse who had knowledge and skills 3) the nurse paid attention to my health problems. For caregivers’ satisfaction, the top three highest scores were 1) if I can choose, I want to get care services as I get now, 2) I got services from the nurse who had knowledge and skills, 3) I received nursing care from the nurse with concerning as if being kinship; I am sure that I get good services from the nurse; and suggestions from the nurse are practical. The results of this study enhance quality of nursing services and advanced practice nursing roles.
