Abstract

This qualitative research aims to study guideline for prevention overweight and obesity  in children 3-5years old and the role of organizations related to the socio- cultural context of the selected community. Informationwas gathered from observations, in-depth interviews, group discussions and documentations. Participants included47 parents, 8 teachers, 3 municipal officers, and 7 public health officers.The study area was in Petchabun Province during 17 months. The research was analyzed by usingcontent analysis.Results show the interventions must begin before birth and continue until the age of 3-5 years old, dealwith factors that stimulate health conditions, and use information consistent with academic knowledge andsocial capital. Schools, municipal authorities and hospitals must collaborate, seek agreement and set a role for themselves, using public policies as an important management device. The ways of preventing an overweightand obesity condition in children include designing services that connect with a nutrition monitoring system,promote health and reduce obesity.
