Abstract

This research was an experimental design in order to study on effects of a distraction technique on painfrom intravenous cannulation in school-age children. The experimental group received routine nursing care andlistened to a relaxation song from an ipod with earphone and The control group received only routine nursingcare. Content validities and raliabilities were evaluated, with Cronbach s Alpha Coefficient of .82 for painscale, Cronbachûs Alpha Coefficient of .82 for school-age childrenûs satisfaction questionnaire and Cronbach, sAlpha Coefficient  of .86 for caregivers, satisfaction questionnaire.Demographic data were analyzed usingpercentages, Chi-squire, Mann-Whitny U-test and independent  t-test.
