FACTORS PREDICTION AND STRESS REDUCTION GUIDELINE FOR STRESS IN MATERNAL-NEWBORN NURSING AND MIDWIFERY PRACTICUM 1 OF POLICE NURSING STUDENTS AT POLICE NURSING COLLEGE

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to examine: 1) the stress levels of the third year police nursing students 2) correlation of learning management, teaching behavior of instructor or nurse preceptor, relationships with instructor, relationships with friend, the setting of nursing practical and the environment of work place with stress of the third year police nursing students 3) predictive factors influence to stress of the 3rd level police nursing students and 4) stress reduction guild line for the 3rd level police nursing students for maternity-newborn nursing and midwifery practicum 1. Fifty six samples who were recruited, from registered of the 3rd level police nursing students for maternity-newborn nursing and midwifery practicum 1 course on academic year 2016. Instruments consisted of questionnaire and semi-structured interviewing form. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression analysis, and content analysis.

The research results were as follows: 1) Overall the stress levels scores of the 3rd level police nursing students for maternity-newborn nursing and midwifery practicum 1 were at a high level ( gif.latex?\bar{x}=54.30, S.D.=15.72), the highest in afraid malfunction ( gif.latex?\bar{x}=3.93, S.D.=.93), the lowest in  conflict of money or work in the family ( gif.latex?\bar{x}=1.79, S.D.=1.07). 2) Factors of learning management, teaching behavior of instructor and nurse preceptor, the setting of nursing practical and the environment of work place, relationships with friends, and relationships with instructor were significantly correlated the stress (r=-.788, -.667, -.553, -.498, p<.01 respectively and r=-.309, p<.05). 3) Learning management significantly predicted the stress of the 3rd level police nursing students for maternity-newborn nursing and midwifery practicum 1 and predictive stress at 62.1 % (R2=.621, Adjusted R2=.614, FChange(1,54)=88.648, p=.000). And 4) stress reduction guild line of the 3rd level police nursing students for maternity-newborn nursing and midwifery practicum 1 were prepare yourself before nursing practice in the real situation and promoting empowerment.
