Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) study the public participation in waste management in the area of Lamnarai Municipality, 2) study the current problems of waste management of Lamnarai Municipality, and 3) present the model of public participation in waste management of Lamnarai Municipality, Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province. The research instruments used in this study consisted of questionnaires responded by 380 people in Lamnarai Municipality and 2) interviews conducted with 20 officials and community leaders in Lamnarai Municipality.  The results of the study showed that people’s household waste management was rated at a high level, and the participation in waste management was also rated at a high level. The relationship between the public participation in waste management and the household waste management was, overall and in each aspect, statistically correlated at the .01 level. The model of public participation in waste management of Lamnarai Municipality, Chaibadan District, Lopburi Province, comprised three main elements: 1) Participation in Planning, 2) Participation in Operation, and 3) Participation in Monitoring and Evaluation
