Nursing Role for Prevention Dementia in Elderly

Abstract

          ในปัจจุบันภาวะสมองเสื่อมเป็นปัญหาสุขภาพที่สำคัญของผู้สูงอายุ เนื่องจากมีอุบัติการณ์เพิ่ม    มากขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว อีกทั้งการรักษาภาวะสมองเสื่อมในปัจจุบันไม่สามารถรักษาให้หายขาดได้  ภาวะสมองเสื่อมส่งผลกระทบต่อผู้สูงอายุและผู้ดูแลในด้านต่างๆ ทั้งด้านร่างกาย จิตใจ อารมณ์ สังคม และเศรษฐกิจ พยาบาลผู้ซึ่งเป็นบุคลากรสาธารณสุขที่เกี่ยวข้องกับประชาชนมากที่สุด จึงมีบทบาทสำคัญในการป้องกันภาวะสมองเสื่อมเพื่อส่งเสริมคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีให้กับผู้สูงอายุ บทความวิชาการนี้จึงมุ่งนำเสนอแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับภาวะสมองเสื่อม ปัจจัยเสี่ยงที่ทำให้เกิดภาวะสมองเสื่อม และการป้องกันการเกิดภาวะสมองเสื่อม เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการให้การพยาบาลแก่ผู้สูงอายุต่อไป

Nursing Role for Prevention Dementia in Elderly

          Nowadays, dementia has become a vital health problem among the elderly because of its critically rising incidence and the nature of the incurable disease. The physical, psychological, and economic consequences of the disease still affect not only the elderly, but also their families. Nurses as healthcare providers are needed to play a major role in disease prevention in order to enhance their quality of life. This article aims to describe disease pathology and risk factors. Further nurse’s roles are elicited to provide guidelines in providing nursing care for the elderly.
