EXPECTATION AND PERCEPTION OF TOURISTS TOWARD STANDARD OF HOME STAY ADMINISTRATION IN CHUMPHON PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims 1)to study the expectation of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province 2) to study the perception of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province 3) to study the behavior of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province 4) to compare the expectation of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon based on personal factors, 5) to compare the perception  of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon based on personal factors, 6) to study the relationship between the tourists’ behaviors and expectation relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province 7) to study the relationship between the tourists’ behaviors and perception relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province. The example consists of 400 tourists. Questionnaire was selected as the method for data collection tool. The statistic theory that used in this research was percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One Way ANOVA, and Chi-Square Test.    


            Results are illustrated as follows:


  1. The expectation of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, Overall, is in the highest level. Regarding to an individual component, the Food satisfaction was the priority and followed by the expectation in hospitality.

  2. The perception of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, Overall, is in the middle level. Fourth standard which is the Hospitality was ranged the most and followed by food satisfaction.

  3. The behavior of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, found that 66.25% of tourists who come to Chumphon Province were here for vocational purpose. The percentage of tourists who come to Chomphon Province for the first visit is 63.5% and 35.25 of them need partner’s opinion to make a final decision. The percentage of those who has visited southern part of Thailand before come to Chumphon Province is 51.25. However the number of tourists who were suggested to visit Chumphon Province by friend is up to 45.75%. Almost half of the tourists spend their time in Chumphon Province during the weekend. The accommodation booking method which mostly used was telephone booking (39.50%).

            4.The comparing expectation of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, has various factors as in gender, age, education, career, monthly salary, hometown and status. Each group has different view toward the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, significantly, statistical different of 0.05 level.


            5.The comparing perception of tourists relating to the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province, has various factors as in gender, age, education, career, monthly salary, hometown and status. Each group has view toward the standard of Home stay administration in Chumphon Province in the similar direction, significantly, statistical different of 0.05 level.
